On Deck

"Oban 155" - 5" x 7" - oil

Sold

Fairly often I search through old road trip photos looking for inspiration. I have several great photos but I don't always tackle them on as paintings, usually because the photo is so good that I don't want to taint the memory of the trip with a painting that isn't as strong as the photo. When this happens I tuck them away until I can get the nerve to dive in. This is one of those pieces. This is a trail that we walked in Oban, Scotland after coming from a horse show two years ago.

Currently I have two pieces that are awaiting my attention. They may have to wait a bit longer because of prior commitments. It all comes down to putting that first "glob" of paint down. It really sets the tone for the rest of the painting.

Very beautiful... Love the dappled light on the plants, the path leading the eye back to the misty atmosphere in the hills... ('Misty' is not a thing we get to practice much in the stark lit mountain west-- I wouldn't know where to begin).

Your work always blows me away!

As always thank you. It was a rare find there but it was very familiar to an east coast guy like me.

These greens are gorgeous. What a beautiful spot. I love the deep red under the roof eaves, too. Glowing and luscious!

I've admired your work for a while... subject matter, style and palette.

I was "tagged" with a Fabulous Blog Award" the other day, and have passed the honor on to you!

The tag, of course, includes a link here. So take a look, and pass it on if you are so inclined. But in any case, please accept it as a sincere compliment on your work, and a recommendation to others to come pay a visit here, too.
