"Whetstone Prairie" - 8" x 10" - oil
Once again I found myself out painting before the sun was up in the Whetstone Prairie at the Park of Roses. If this isn't a love for painting then it must be insanity. The previous week of painting was a complete dud by my standards as I could not get into the right frame of mind for plein air painting. This week was somewhat different. I was relaxed, calm and even mellow, characteristics that have never been used to describe me as a person. The painting above is what stemmed from that unseasonably cold morning.

Hi Steven,
I really do enjoy your commentary on the plein air painting you do. I feel pretty lucky that I can sit inside, in the comfort of my studio to work on my medium.
I do enjoy this painting that came from that cold morning you endured.
Looking forward to what you accomplish next!
I think this is one of my favorites, I love the trees!!! The crisp air did you well Steven LOL. I actually love this cool weather that's rolling in...refreshing! Must be good for the brain and creative juices :)
You have a lot of fortitude, my friend! and you've fooled us all-- your finished paintings often exude calm and mellowness. The colors are wonderful here, as always. Lovin' that almost greenish sky.
I love the picture of the trees in the forest, that is what you call art from the heart. I am into art and so far its pretty cool. create art is my major.
This painting it makes me feel like im in the forest.
Thanks everyone! It took a while getting use to painting outside of the comforts of my studio but the plein air experience is paying off. Maybe the cool air and the numbness in my fingers helps. I'll keep em coming as long as you guys continue to enjoy them.
Wow, great painting!
